Honestly though it's kind of not my business to say. My business is that I don't want Ronan to throw me out a window because it will probably kill me again.
There was also a farm! No animals but a lot of crops and stuff. I got a bunch of berries and Rook and I made berry vodka, I've been drinking it as slow as I can.
[Noah's reply is first a series of attachments - several pictures that feature the same man in them. Mid to late twenties - not here, clearly, there's open sky above them in all of the pictures, daylight and clouds or an unfamiliar blanket of stars. His hair is long and pale blonde, tied off with several braids throughout, blue dye around his temples. In some it's faded, in others clearly just refreshed to a deep indigo hue.
He shares Ronan's default expression of a sort of dull anger meant to keep people away, pale eyes often dangerously focused - sometimes even at the camera, not amused with Noah's antics.
Sometimes he smiles, though, and it softens everything up. A sort of crooked grin on a face that doesn't have it often enough. In one he's got the furrowed brow of attempted annoyance while looking at a horse who has a flower crown on, but the rest of his face can't hide the mix of exasperation and fondness in equal measure. There's at least one where Noah's taking a selfie with him that gets a similar expression, even though Noah's all bright smiles.]
Yeah. Ronan hated him, but Adam liked him too.
[The short text doesn't give away that Noah's eyes are misting again, the tears threatening to start when he sorted through his pictures to find ones to send to Gansey to show him. Rook wasn't from home - he came from a different world, and while Noah wonders if he's still in Harbor View or if he returned home the results are still the same. Noah will never get to see him again.]
[ The boy in the picture reminds Gansey of Ronan in a way that has nothing to do with his looks. They couldn't look more different, in fact, but their expression is the same.
It's not a surprise that Ronan hadn't liked him, Gansey thinks. He imagines they probably fought.
The pictures tell their own story, though - a tale of friendship crafted over months, and now, of course, it's lost to Noah. ]
He seems as though he liked you. It's nice to see. I'm sorry I won't be able to know him. Do you think he's still there?
[In truth it was slightly more than friendship on Noah's end, even though that came with the understanding that when Rook looked at Noah he thought of his lost little brother. It was fine, just being around him was enough for Noah, having that comfort of friendship. He scrolls through his own pictures again as he grabs the food to bring back.]
I don't know. Being there and being home both had awful parts for him.

Do you want anything while I'm already out

I'm all right. We're not low on food, are we? I don't like leaving it all to Adam.

I think we're okay but I'm going to see if there's more of these fruit and cream filled bread rolls anywhere first, they're good.

A mystical train in another world, and they took you to Target. Somehow that's not how I was imagining it.
I'd take it now, though.

Tell me about Rook. Friend of yours?
